The jack needs power to accept IR commands? while in standby the jack is dead.

That makes no sense. What is the point of the jack if its dead when powered off? I have had many other receivers that were had fully functional IR in jacks that allowed the device to be powered on.

It looks like it might be a Denon firmware issue. There is an "official" thread for the 4520 over on avsforum. In Post #4 it has a firmware change log and this was supposed to be fixed in the first firmware update. Guess I'll contact Denon customer support.

I emailed a member here that has the Power On command working through the rear IR port and he is using a MSC 400.
I have not been able to get it to work with either the MRF 260 or 350.
Since it is happening with another remote manufacturer then maybe it is a Denon issue.
If it works with the MSC 400 then it should work with the MRF260 and 350.

Why would you use IR with an MSC 400?
I can personally tell you that the MSC 400 will turn on a Denon 4520 when using RS-232. Works every time without issues on my setup!!!
