Has anyone upgraded to Windows 8. Yuu pretty much can do it for $14.98

[Link: techpp.com]

It says the CCP is not compatible and I am nervous that I won't be able to get it to run as I have on Windows 7.

Hoping that Windows 8 has a "compatibility Mode" just like 7

Would hate to install and then have to go back to 7 so my CCP works and was hoping one of you already have installed 8?

Why would you even consider Windows 8 until at LEAST service pack 1?

No matter how cheap you can get crap, it's still crap.

If URC says it won't run on 8, I'd assume it won't run period. If it would run in some form of compatibility mode, I'm sure they would say so.

It's not URC saying it won't run. MS is saying that there may be an issue with it. No doubt MS is saying that because, as usual, URC refuses to do any development work in advance of any OS release. Blame URC for a lousy approach to this issue, like they have had every time MS has released a new OS.

I have tried CCP on Windows 8 Pro. There is no problem running CCP. There is a problem, however, with Mobile Device Center. It loses connection with the remote and does not stay connected long enough for upload/download. I have not yet figured out a fix. Until someone figures it out, I would not use a Windows 8 based PC to program a URC remote.

Win8 does not have XP mode. You can install Hyper-V (but not sure if that supports USB devices: never used to).I am using Win8 with VMware (XP SP3) and works great with CCP, MSC-400 and MX-780

I just tried CCP under Win8. Seems to work OK as long as you run in the correct compatibility mode. (I chose XP with SP3 and run as admin for good measure).

I just noticed something very interesting. I have an MX880 and MX780. I use my 880 for living room system and 780 for bedroom. I'm using Windows 8. When I try to upload or download my 880 I have a connection error. When using the 780, it works fine. Here's the weird part. Using CCP I use the Home Configure option which has both the living room and bedroom remotes in one file. When I uploaded the file in my 780, it has of course the 780 file and my living room file, but only shows the MRF350. It doesn't even show the MX880. Very strange. Hopefully there's a fix out there. It appears that the 880 doesn't play nice with Windows 8.
