MSC 400 with an RFX..
The RFX light was lit no matter what we did..slid the ferrite core directly on the antenna of the RFX. Dead quiet!! Remote now works consistently after a couple of days of testing.

Holy crap.

For 6 years I've been tormented on one particular system. I've lost countless hours and even days TS'ing the intermittent RF induction. Of the 4 URC techs I spoke to in the last couple days, one of them mentioned trying a ferrite core because he heard someone might have had some luck maybe. bla.

I read this 2007 post today, bought 3 ferrite cores and blam. I am finally done.

THANK YOU REMOTE CENTRAL for the search feature.

Thank you ddingle for knowing more about RF troubleshooting than URC Tech has for 8 YEARS!

NO THANK YOU URC for your unfamiliarity with this simple solution to making your product work.

System:

3800 square foot home

URC MSC400
3 RFX-250's
6 MX-980's
7 Samsung LEDs
2 DirecTV Genies (previously Cox cable)
1 Bluray
1 AppleTV
1 9xCamera system
2 Yamaha RX-V1065 surround receivers
1 Elan 8.6
1 Elan 886
1 Elan 12 Ch Digital amp

You said that a URC tech support agent mentioned the ferrite core. Should you not be thanking them for putting you on this path? Out of curiousity, where is the antennas located on the job?

I've had numerous URC techs over the past 6 years just on this job alone. It seemed apparent the well meaning tech that suggested the Ferrite hadn't tried it and know one else there knew what he was talking about.

I've asked them over the years if they had a link to a white paper. nope.

Antennas located in mechanical room, behind great room TV & in a wall in the casita.
