Hi All!
I'm new to the forum. I'm a pro AV installer with a good experience with most of URC line of programmable remotes. A client recently asked for my advice. He wanted to upgrade to an MX-6000 from an MX-3000 to get the wireless 2way control of Apple TV, iTunes, PSX-2 and web surfing.
I've never worked with a 6K before but I have programmed his 3k and many other URCs, Prontos, Logitechs and the likes.
I read some reports that said that new AppleTVs cannot be controlled via pairing in 2way form. Is this confirmed?
Can I get 2way control of iTunes?
How does Autonomic solutions help me (if they do) in any way?
Will the PSX-2 give me 2 way control of an iPod from MX-6000 with no adittional hardware other than a Wifi Router just by putting it in the program as a "device" in URC?
Will he get web surfing without adittional hardware just by putting it in the program as a "device" in URC?

Thanks all.

Best

No control except for IR on AppleTV 2 or 3. The Autonomic will allow you to browse the iTunes songs, artists, playlists can't do it without it. PSX-2 will give you control of iPod with feedback. I wouldn't be browsing on the remote. It's NOT an iPad.

You can pair the MX6000 directly to an itunes library and control it 2 way and then either hook the computers audio out directly to the sound system or play the itunes library to an air port and hook that up to the sound system.

Sounds like a high expectation setup for a big letdown.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Using the Autonomic software.

No doubt!

I could give you 50 reasons why not to do this, but I will keep it short and sweet; Dont sell him a MX6000. Evrything you listed above is a giant pain in the ass. Your customer won't be happy and neither will you TRUST ME!

Look in another direction like Sonos, Aiplay, URC's new TC line, another control company.

"Using the Autonomic software."

I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to say here? The 2 way module is made by Autonomic, but you don't need Autonomic software running on your computer to use it with iTunes directly. All you have to do is add the PC iTunes or Mac iTunes 2 way device to the MX6000 put in the ip of the computer that the iTunes is runnung on and then pair the remote directly to iTunes. You will get full 2 way with album art on the MX6000.

I'm sure there are better ways of doing this, but this will work for 2 way control of iTunes from the MX6000.
