I don't know if anyone else has experienced a problem trying to locate another battery for the Mx-3000. I have looked everywhere..I went to universal remote.com and showed a list of dealers in my area and I called Tweeter and they had no clue on where to get one. Any help would be Great!!

I'm a reseller and I don't know where to get one either. My distributor is clueless. It's BS that a >$1000 remote can be hamstrung by such a pi$$ant issue. I personally need one for my own system so if anyone has any ideas, let us know.

You can order them from URC direct, call tech support. I think about $40. They are also used in some phones and MP3 players if you can find the matching number they are a lot cheaper.

thanks for the info...just called the number that Ericjb posted and ordered one!!! Matter of fact all they asked was for my address and said the first one is free!!!! Web Site isn't really consumer friendly...but calling in is. (I assume that their web site is generally for dealers.)

If anybody knows the matching number or even which phones / mp3 players this battery is used in, please post it. I've done lots of searches but have not been able to find this battery anywhere else.

Lithium-Ion batteries have a two year shelf life, so I want to make sure I can get batteries on the open market without having to request it as a part from URC (even if they are very nice about it!).

I've been too busy to monkey with this lately but, I have to report that I just spoke with URC and they did indeed cover this. Super nice service after approx. 30 seconds on hold. URC rocks!

How do I go about getting a replacement battery when you're not located in the US? And even worse, how do I buy one if I bought the MX3000 on eBay (not knowing that it would make me an "illegal" user) ?

I live in sweden and recently my battery has started to give up its ghost. Get the battery low warning 1 minute after a full charge :(

To the MX3000 person: Post if you find a solution. I found the manufacturer of the battery, but can't find anywhere it is being used other than the 3000. As I said earlier, these types of batteries have a two year shelf life even if you don't use them, so the remote will rather quickly turn into a brick without replacements. Would be nice to find relatively inexpensive replacements too, which will only happen if we can identify other, more mainstream, devices using it.

To the MX350 person: I assure you there is no internal battery in any of URC's remotes. I'm sorry to say that it sounds like your remote may be defective. Try it for a while and see if the low battery condition clears itself. You may also want to try starting a new topic with the question, as the folks reading this one are MX3000 people.

UNIVERSAL IS A CLASS COMPANY AND THEY BACK UP THE MX3000 AS YOU WOULD EXPECT THE COMAPANY TO DO FOR A $1000 REMOTE. Call URC 1-800-901-0800 AND TALK TO TECH SUPPORT, THEY WILL SEND BATTERIES OUT AND I HAVE NOT BEEN CHARGED FOR THEM.

I deal with Li-Ion Batteries, and power systems in portable products every day. There is nothing in a Li-Ion Battery that gives it a 2 year shelf life. They will work and typically give over 95% of rated capacity with proper storage.

I've owned my remote for nearly 2 years now, it gets daily use, and I never have problems with the battery going dead.

^^ Mine as well. Don't think the 2 year shelf life theory is accurate.

But I digress......
