Hi there,

I've just had to add the Hex codes for my HDMI switcher by copying them from the manufacturer data.

How do I go about submitting this information to URC to have this new remote added to their standard IR DB ?

I have the full original manufacturer Remote types with Hex codes for the IR.

It is for the Octava HDMI switches/matrixes.

Thanks,
Roy.

You could also post it to remote central files with the model listed.

They've been sucking at updating the supplied codes.
I sent them all kinds of data with specific model numbers, code sheets, MFG website and link information few months ago; data still not in DB.
They don't have Zektor's data at all and I know few people that submitted it.

I could not agree more. I have submitted data several times over the past few years. NONE of them have ever appeared in the database. URC really needs to get their act together on this issue. Surely they could afford an intern to keep this data far more up to date.

I've sent them an email with the manufacturers direct link to their hex IR Codes.

Didn't even get a reply.

I believe they have 2 people in that department. They are not going to have everything under the sun in their database. If you have the hex codes, it is very easy to add to your program. If it is a device you use often, you can create your own template with the hex codes already programmed in to speed things up. The reality of it is that they have a very extensive database and it is fairly well put together and easy to use. It is easy to add your own codes via learning directly, importing hex codes, or importing full ccf files.

I spoke to URC TS and they claim to have 6 full time employees that do nothing but DB entry/maintenance. Surely they can add few dozen codes a day with 6 people.
And I'm not asking for every device under the sun. I'm asking for Zektor stuff as an example. I'm asking for HAI (~5+ years in production). I'm not asking them to purchase equipment and try to learn the codes.
I've sent them full specs, in word or PDF document with MFG references/links.
We're talking COPY/PASTE here folks.

Unlike some other manufacturers, URC won't take unverified codes from end-users/programmers. You can send your remote to them to learn, or ask your manufacturer to send them codes.

They have a 3-man DB team, one is brand new I think. Met them during a meet&greet.

If you've taken the time to organize the hex codes you should just do the work and add them manually. Their working across the entire spectrum of TVs, AVRs, Switches, etc etc and will miss some stuff.

You mean to tell me that sending them a detailed email with doc and pdf file attached directly from MFG as well as links to MFG site where documentation resides, and a note to contact me or specific person on the MFG's staff is not enough?
Not even a one line reply of "we'll look into it", or "you're the 1,073rd request; we'll try to get to it next year (or next decade)".
And I'm not the only one.

And don't tell me that they verify every code because there is a shit load of DirecTV codes for specific models that don't work and a number of generic code-sets (again DirecTV) where some work and others don't.
I never had that problem with Pronto.
Oh, and others on this site and IP told me same thing; they submitted requests only to have it fall on deaf ears.

I like URC, but their handling of the database is a joke. No search, sort or any logical organization of database. Yea, I know, look for at the bottom for the newest one.

Can't remember off the top of my head but if you go back and look at the training video again it's there.

For details, see the last page of the KP-4000 CCP Programming Manual - but briefly...
Load your .ccp file into the program. Go to the page where you want to add the HEX code to a button. On the main CCP toolbar, click "Tools", then "Universal Browser". There are 2 icons in the toolbar of the Universal Browser window that just popped up. Click the one named "HEX". Enter your HEX codes and drag them to the button or the macro area for that button.
