I've been using a version of the MX-3000 editor with Live Update capability for several years. I recently moved the editor to a Dell Inspiron laptop with 64-bit Windows 7.
On this system the connection for Live Update works, but it always fails with the message "Fail to save patch file". Neither the program nor the database will update. I am running the editor as an administrator, and have tried several compatibility modes down to XP. Nothing helps.
Advice??

OK, missed that, but this is the exact problem that always crops up when you're *not* in administrator mode. I would suggest uninstalling, deleting everything from the program directory (make sure none of your own content is in there first), and reinstalling.

Typically it means you're not connected to the internet...

"Fail to save patch file" is a permissions issue - the program isn't being allowed to save a file where it wants to.

I had better luck programming the MX-3000 on Windows XP mode on Windows 7.

Think he's already tried running as administrator. Running Windows logged in as administrator is not the same as running the program as administrator. Right click on the program's shortcut and select "Run as Administrator". Maybe this is the case here?

I've already set the program to run as administrator. I even set UAC controls off. No joy. I might add that on my previous Vista machine I sometimes got 'Fail to save patch file' message and had to try to update one or two times before success.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Any way to set the application to always run as administrator so it doesn't have to be selected each time it is opened?

Nevermind, I found it. It is a selection when you click Advanced on the Shortcut Tab of the properties of the shortcut icon. (Windows 7)
