I need a remote for my personal use. My favorite URC remote as far as feel and button layout is the MX5000. Who has used one for any extended length of time and can provide some useful advice on the remote? Are they holding up well in the field? Any issues with buttons wearing out? Battery problems (is it the same battery as the MX980?)?

My system is super simple and I do not need any 2-way stuff, although I will try to control my Tivo via IP. I will probably use the mrx1 base station as well.

Any thoughts? I know the unit is spendy, but is it worth it?

For your setup and needs, I prefer the MX-1200.

Buttons have never been an issue on the MX5000, battery not a problem, but it is substantially different than MX810/880/980/1200. I set mine up IP for TIVO as well, works great! Lots of customization opportunities, even easier than the MX1200.
