I am setting up a Aton DLA 6 and trying to run each zone with the RF20 remote. I have a single IR cable from the Mini Blaster to the DLA 6 into zone 1. I put in the code 618 in the remote and now it turns the DLA 6 all on or all off. I can control the volume, but I need to be able to run each zone. Aton said to download a file which is a rcc file but I have no way of opening it or transferring it to my remote. Would it work to run a IR line to each zone of the DLA 6 and treat each zone separately? Any advice would be welcome.

You have the wrong remote for this application IMHO. With any of the pc programmable remotes, you can download the file (and I believe the HEX codes are available on their site as well). It takes a bit of programming to do right and make it easy to use, but works perfectly. If you know someone with a PC programmable remote, you could always learn those codes to your remote.

What kind of programmable remote would work? I have to decide if I want to return the RF20 or find a programmable one. I do need RF as the remote needs to work through out the house. The RF 20 does this fine.
Thanks for the advice.

If you want to keep the cost low, I'd suggest a URC MX780 coupled with a MRF 260 or MRF350. I personally like the MRF350 better as it allows you to place the antenna in a remote location instead of in your equipment cabinet like the MRF260 will. The MX780 is an "entry level" PC programmable remote that will allow you to do exactly what you want, has RF capabilities, a small color screen and is powerful for an entry level device. You may have an uphill battle learning to program if you are doing it yourself, but the end result will be a perfectly working system. MAKE SURE you purchase the remote from an authorized dealer that can provide the software to you, as URC will not provide it to an end user, and only an authorized dealer can supply it. Make sure you ask for it before you purchase as well, as an authorized dealer does not have to provide it. It is at their discretion. Look for a local dealer as well, as they will be the best option to provide support should you need it. Just make sure, once again, you ask up front what the costs for assistance would be. I will tell you that I have setup the DLA pieces with URC remotes on several occasions and they worked great.

I will look for a dealer locally. I am in the boonies so there are not many dealers.
Will the RF 20 work with this setup as a second remote?
Thanks for the advice.

You're welcome and good luck. You can also post where you are located and a local dealer may just see the thread and contact you to offer their help.

Are the MRF 260/350, MX 780 setup and RF 20 remotes compatible? Can I keep the RF20 as a second remote?
If I need to return the URC setup does another remote system work better, ie Harmony?

Possibly. The RF20 is compatible with the MRF-100 I believe. Now I have not dealt with this setup myself so I am not 100% sure. I do BELIEVE that you cannot adjust the RF ID on that setup. IF the combo is set to an ID that is identical to the MRF260/350 and works on the same frequency than it should work. I cannot say for sure though due to my lack of experience with that setup. Sorry.

Great. If you remember, come back and update the thread. I am interested to know how it turns out. Once again, good luck.

I am not sure if this is the right thread for this question but here it is. What is the difference between the MRF 260 and the MRF 100?

I think the 100 only works with the RF20 where as the 260 works with everything else.

I took the RF 20 to a local installer who had downloaded the codes and installed them on a 800 (?) and then we just "learned" the codes to the RF20. It was a lot cheaper to do this than buy the more expensive remotes. The system is up and running and works very well.
Thanks for all the advice on this site.
