First post here. Did a search and it seems the Vista topic stalled so I am revisiting this issue. Now that MS Vista is officially out, I would like to know if URC is working on a patch to make their software work in this OS.

I hope that there will be a resolution soon as I am about to upgrade to Vista and this software is the only reason I can't upgrade.

PS: Mike any news from URC?

URC is working on the Vista ActiveSync issue (as reported in December). It should be available via Live Update when it's ready, but I have no timetable. Eric Johnson can fill you in on this.

I am sure the URC software update will work, but will vista work? Now that is the question.

Vista doesn't support activsynch. Microsoft is supposed to be working on it, but until then don't try to program anything, plug in your palm pilot or do anything that requires activesynch.

And let's not forget about those of us that have made the move to 64-bit Vista (but still keeping 2 PCs running 32-bit XP Pro).

I'd be among those. With 64-bit Vista you have the ActiveSync issue as well as the fact that a 64-bit driver for the MX-3000 needs to be written.

Windows Mobile Device Center is the replacement for Activesync on Vista:

If URC isn't testing with this yet, I think it is going to be a very long time before the software runs on Vista.

Windows MDC just went "gold" yesterday, so I'd imagine most devices will have updates out shortly for Vista use.

Don't blame URC for not being compatible since there hasn't been any "supported" code released until yesterday. Now that it's supported by Microsoft, the vendors can finish debugging their driver sets.

So how are we going to receive the Vista fix if we don't have live update?

There will be a download and you will uninstall the current one and install the new one.

URC software seems to work just fine on my Vista Ultimate 64 bit machine?

My MX-800 software works just fine on Vista.

I know I have heard of problems with MX-3000 with Vista, I am not sure if the MX-900/950 series has problems as well, but I think at least the 850 and below will work with Vista.

That's because the MX800 uses the old serial interface. The newer ones use USB with Activesync (just like a PDA), and that's the part that Vista changed.

I find it kind of strange that none of the remote guys spent any energy on getting ready for Vista? No for URC, No for UEI Nevo, No for Philips on the Pronto Professional TSU9600. Apparently RTI works which I thought used ActiveSync as well??? (Based upon a post in the RTI forum).

Did the remote companies figure no one would upgrade? They all must belong to some sort of Microsoft Partner program and I suspect they have been aware for many months, that their apps were not going to work on Vista.

However, no one was ready when the product came out. Maybe this is a signal that Microsoft partners don't care much anymore, when MS comes out with a new OS?

I would like to upgrade but I cannot until everyone gets their act togteher and supports the platform.
