i am going through the same problem with the SA 8300HD, i am currently using an IR emitter but it pretty much doesnt work. i tried using a 3.5 to 3.5 jack to plug the MRF300 directly into the back of the cable box and still didnt work. what do i need to get the IR input plug to accept the signal from the MRF 300?

It's NOT an IR input on the back of the cable box, it's an output.

I just had the same problem, with the same box ( 8300hd ). I was using an mx850 with the rf base station, I ended up having to turn the rf antenna all the way down, as well as the ir output for that emmiter. After that there was 1 spot on the couch where it did not work, after slightly adjusting the emmiter a second time it finally worked flawlessly.
