Hi,
A friend gave me a MX-810 remote. I really don't know much about these. I want set it back to factory so I can set the remote to match my components. I did download the manual but it looks like I can't change the settings in the remote unless I have the software which I don't. I saw on a few threads that you can go to URC website, enter your serial number and download the software. I can't find this on their site. Any help or recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks

There seems to be a misconception here, some members seem to beleive that I can and am supplying the editing software for some URC remotes, such as the MX810, MX900.
This plain wrong. The situation is last year I considered buying the MX900, and in doing an internet search on the remote came across a bit-torrent of the CCP software. All I have been doing is making people aware of this.

So basically you're not supplying the software just telling them where to download it illegally. Big difference there, sorry.
Unfortunately this won't help the OP as the 810 does not use CCP. I would suggest contacting URC and see if they will help.

do we really need another argument over this? i suggest any URC dealers out there report any torrent they see to their URC rep and see if they can do anything about it.

Being that the 810 was discontinued quite some time ago I'd make sure where ever you're getting it from supply the software.

Thanks for the tip. As for discontinued, on URC's site it is not listed anywhere, nor under disc. nor under any other category. It can be found only under the old news and some dead links, like to the MX-880 manual!!! It looks more of an abandoned then on discontinued product... sadely. Edit: on some post from 2007. is said that software for MX-810 was never on URC's site, always from dealer... wow, that's complicating the things even further as time goes on...

This is simply not true. URC offered the full version of the MX-810 programming software (the updatable version) for a period. That's where I got my copy. You had to give them a valid serial number before they gave the link. But it was publicly available (like the MX3000 software was). Then they changed their minds and stopped making it available.

Probably came around at them that too many people with not enough technical knowledge bought 810 and called technical support too often... just a thought.
