A client's cable box was recently changed to the Cisco Explorer 8640HDC. I can't find IR codes for it in any of the databases.

No problem. I learned all the codes into my good old Pronto TS1000. All of the commands work. For those much more IR-savvy than I, a few commands are:

Stored the Pronto file. Used the Universal Browser to import the commands. The first time I did this, with Pronto Edit still open, only one command worked at all: MENU. But it worked perfectly as the GUIDE command. No other commands worked. Using RF.

Closed ProntoEdit, detached all commands, reattached all commands. Now none of them work. Using RF & IR just to be sure the signal hits the IR sensor.

Any clues?

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I thought I was going crazy. I could have sworn I saw a reply asking why you didn't just learn the codes. They I for some unknown reason decided to ACTUALLY read your entire post to finally realize you posted in the other forum. Duh.

This is exactly why I explain to newbs that if they're going to do this, please don't add to the insanity level by not telling us they're posting in two forums. But yeah, you do have to read the entire thing. I think next time I'll put it at the top, just to be fair to our fragile psyches.

edmund saw this thread in the CI forum and provided directions for learning. Thanks, as always, edmund!
