I have just replaced my several year old MX950 with a new MX 980 and I have to say that I really like it ! The conversion from MX950 editor to CCP did not take too long (but did require that I read some of the programming manual). I really like the increased customization abilities of the button labeling and layout provided by the both the CCP as well as the removable labels for the previous WATCH and LISTEN buttons (ACTIVITIES and DEVICES is more suited to my style). It took me several hours to fully program the 980 to mimic the 950, mainly due to having to "learn" many of the commands for the Direct TV HR24-500. Many of the buttons in the IR database for this device did not function for some reason.

In that case, how do you replace all the functions at once?
Or do you do 1 button at a time?

You can do both.....

All at once......Go to "IR database" choose device, then sat, then codeset 173.

One at a time... Open up "ir database navigator" then drag and drop.
All high's, all low's, it must be.......

Thanks

I dont remember what codeset I used, but I'll go back and try 173 just for kicks. I do remember that the codeset I used said "no favorites", yet, there were about 8 pages of favorites anyways. At this point, I have edited the device to do what I want and I dont mind teaching the 980 a few buttons from the remote.

IMHO, the only thing missing on the 980 is a hard button for "record". Dont all DVRS have these ?
