I just got a new MX-880 and RF basestation. I have been trying to get it to work with just IR codes to start with, however. It controls my late-model Samsung LCD TV fine, but I can't get it to work with Windows Media Center.

I use an IR310, common in Origenae HTPC cases, which has a Philips remote chip.  It uses IMON manager software by Soundgraph to interface the USB IR310 to Windows 7, and can power the PC on and off by virtue of a connection to the case switch.  I should emphasize this has worked for years with a Windows Media Center remote RC197.

I have tried using Windows Media Center ID#8 from the database, as well as Windows Media Center RC and Windows Vista.  Neither seem to work.  I have also tried learning the WMC remote, but the hard buttons show red with text "PT" in the CCP software interface and don't work.

Surely I am not the only Universal Remote Customer running WMC7.  What do I need to do to get this working?

thanks,

Thanks for the config example.  I see that AUX.252 from the IR database is a likely candidate for many functions.  I confirmed my Windows Media Center computer is well-controlled by pressing "test" with MX-880 remote connected via USB and selecting AUX.252 IR database. I can test these codes in the IR database software and they control the PC.

Unfortunately, I can't seem to get this group of settings into the MX-880 or the simulator. I have successfully configured my HDTV and amp, however.

When I hover the mouse over the simulator buttons it shows PT/WATCH VOL+ in my failed MX-880 config, instead of P AUX.252 VOL+ like your example. But I can "test" this same command using CCP software, and my MX-880 over USB and it works!

Thanks,

PT stands for Punch Through.   You must have gone into that device and set it up to use commands from another device.  this is typically used when you want to use the volume commands from an AV receiver or Television on other devices.  If you have it programmed like this, then it will ignore any other commands programmed to that button.
