Hi, new member here!

After years of being torchered by my harmony remotes falling apart after a year or two of use i got sick of it and purchased a 980 remote. I fully realize it will take some time to learn how to program this but I will do whatever if takes.

I have the software, got it installed, along with getting win7 64bit to recognize the remote after reading a guide here on your forum.

I am setting up the devices now and can't seem to find the my Dish Network VIP922 receiver? This has been out over 2yrs now i figured it would have been a must that remote database would have had this now?! I have read the 722 settings will work with this though? Anything extra i need to do?

Also, my Samsung PNC63C8000 Plasma i bought last year i cannot seem to find in the database?

Whats the standard procedure for its not in the database?

Thanks for any suggestions!

In most cases, you can use another model from the same manufacturer. Try the closest model number you can find. You can learn in any codes not present. For Samsung, use the codes labeled Discrete Commands at the top of the list. It will have all the discrete power and input commands. If you need volume, menu, or any other missing commands, just drag them over from one of the other TV code sets

Thanks.. After looking at all the models there i figured i would just choose the 2011 discrete codes and hopefully that would work. Then i started reading in the manual that it says to pick from the bottom of the list and the higher the number the newer the code set is. So I ended up switching to that for now.

I just got through the "Punch" screen which kinda made no sense to me for a bit. If i understand it right this is were you would select what is being controlled by what whenever you are in an activity?

So far though its been pretty smooth...I do programming for HVAC equipment so I am sure i can figure this out :D

Ok I have it all programmed and working 98% the way i need it to! Can't believe it only took a little more than an hour from never using it before!

The only problem I am having is it does not remember when something is off or on already. When switching between activities it will not shut the devices off in the previous activity that are no longer being used.

That can be done with the proper implementation of IF/THEN statements in your macros, along with power tracking variables. Look at the programming manual embedded in the "Help" section of the software for more information.

Thanks!

What i ended up doing for now is just placing a power off or on/off on the last line of each activity of the devices that are not supposed to be on. Seems to work!

SurfRemote, I bought a used 980 and it is pretty much in mint condition and works perfect, however the battery is toast on it. After it sitting in the charger for a couple hours it loses its charge very quickly (like minutes!)

Do you sell replacement batteries, or know of the largest capacity aftermarket that fits?

Thanks!

The battery is a Fuji NP-60. Sometimes you can find them locally, but I get them from Amazon:

Yep the first place i checked was amazon, then i started seeing all these larger capacity batteries which is what i am thinking of getting instead.

*EDIT* Found one local at Batteries+ for $29.99..The guy had a coupon there for $8 off so it came out to $22 which is more than online but at least i have a working remote now :)

1200mah also, so slightly larger than stock. The stock one had a huge belly on both sides actually when i took it out :o

That's common, be sure to check the new one once a month or so. The battery pack could eventually leak battery acid...not good. We've replaced several for clients that were on the verge of leaking and what you had there was the tell tale sign of that about to occur. Luckily the battery usually fails to the level of not being useable, prior to leaking, so that throws up a flag and initiates a service call by the client.

Well after all that I decided to sell it and put it on fleabay. Played around with it for the last few hours here and it is just really uncomfortable In the hand when jumping around to do different stuff. Constantly had to shift my hand around it seemed. No way the wife would like it!

I just purchased a 880 off eBay so that should be more to my liking with its more compact design The fact that wre is no charging cradle is what turned me off originally though from it. Any aftermarket ones you guys have seen?
