So I'm a bit perplexed, I have an MX-880 and I'm trying to do a straight IR control of the lights. When I use the IR library in Complete Control and hit the little IR symbol to test the codes they work fine.

Then I put the command on a button all by itself and it doesn't work. I have noticed that when I use the IR symbol to test in the software the IR light blinks twice on the remote, when I test it with the button it blinks once. I thought it might be a command repeat problem so I tried repeating 2 and 3 times and it still doesn't work.

Any hints on troubleshooting this one?

Have you made sure that it is set to IR in the device list? Go to the Program tab and click the RF button. Look at the device and make sure the Signal is set to IR.

you are my hero! That did the trick. thanks.

Now to push my luck, I was originally thinking of controlling the Lutron via IR from the MS-400 vs the remote. Do you think if I used an emmitter connected to the 400 and pointed it at the lights that would work? The lights are about 6 ft from the closest spot I could get the emmitter.

thanks again.

You could try but I doubt it. You can extend the emitter if you want. I've gone 75' without any issues.

I would prefer not to run a cable to the wall because of the looks. I read somewhere else that someone bought an MRF-260 and used it just for the IR blasting capability. Anyone tried that?

Why didn't you purchase URC's dimmers?

I had 1 dimmer and it was already there so I didn't want to deal with replacing it.

Honestly, just replacing what you have with the URC dimmers will be easier for you in the long run. No need to point or add emitters. Super easy to program. If you have only 1 dimmer in place now, I suggest just biting the bullet and replacing them.

+1 on using the URC dimmer, provided the light load is 600Watts or less.
