I just upgraded the new HR24-500 and it took me a bit to realize the new DTV remote was using RF so the MX-900 wasn't working. I changed it to IR and now both remotes work. My question is, if I hookup my RF emitters and controller for the MX-900, will I then be able to switch the DTV's remote back to RF...and both remotes will work using RF? Seems like it would but wanted to ask before I go to all the effort.

Thanks!

nope.   the directv receivers will work in IR or RF mode, but not both at the same time.  the MX900's RF isn't the same as DirecTV's, so you still need to use an emitter on the face of the directv receiver and control it via IR.
