I have a MX-900 I want to replace with a newer MX-900. I have the editor software. The original MX-900 is a S/W version 1.57. The MX-900 editor is a firmware 1.57. When I connect the new MX-900 to the editor I get an unable to connect SC-1 message. The S/W version for the newer MX-900 is 2.10 (I believe - it's not in front of me at the moment).

Does the editor software firmware number need to be the same or higher value as the S/W version on the remote in order to be compatible for editing? I can edit the old remote fine and upload and download it's files to my PC I just cannot connect the newer model without the SC-1 message.

I've tried using different cables and 2 different PC's with XP and get the same behavior.

If I need new editing software, is it available?

Thanks

You are using the standalone editor with an older MX-900? If so the newer 900 is set up for the newer complete control software and won't work on the older editor until the boot software is re-loded from the stand alone editor.

1. Remove one battery from your remote control.
2. Press and hold the “POWER ON” button and “MUTE” button same time. Continue holding.
3. Insert a battery so remote control can power up.
4. Release the buttons. LCD screen says “LOADER” (MX-900)
5. Open the MX-900 CCP or standalone editor. Download a file to the remote. Now the remote can be used normally.

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much. I look forward to trying the procedure. I'll advise if it doesn't work. Yes, I am using the MX-900 editor software not the complete control software. My editor version is 1.57.

Hello BobL

I was able to put the remote into "Loader" just as your instructions say but I still get the Unable to connect (SC-1) message.

My MX-900 Editor version is 1.10.130 Firmware 1.57, IR DB 1.83. The Remote version is edit 1.00, S/W 2.08, IR 3.1.42.

Is there a way to make the remote work with the MX-900 Editor or is the only solution to use Complete Control Software?

Again my other MX-900 connects edits and up/downloads normally with the editor, only this updated one has the issue.

Thanks

I also faxed in a form to update my MX-900 editor with URC. We will see how that goes.

URC did send a link to update my editor. On caveat, using the downloaded file to "update" my editor resulted in error message trying to start the program. I ended up uninstalling the original editor and installing the replacement. The Replacement is version 1.10.141 Firmware 1.61 IR DB 1.87. It also has live update capability.

Having issues with my MX-900 and MSC-400. I think it might have something to do with updates to the software and/or firmware. The system has been working well for about 3 years. I recently update the firmware on both units and made some changes to the software to accomodate new devices. The macros work on the MSC-400 when I test them through the front USB port but I can't seem to get the remote to trigger the macros on the MSC. I'm not new to programming and I've spent hours troubleshooting this. I've re-loaded everything the way it was when it was working with the exception of software and firmware version updates but I get the same result. Any suggestions out there for me before I lose my mind?

If you made changes to the program, often you must re-drag all the triggers from the 400 over to the 900. Especially if you're using the stand alone editors.

I've tried just about everything including creating a complete new file for each. The triggers work at the MSC level but they won't initiate from the 900. I thought maybe there was an issue with receiver IDs or something but that all seems to be in order.
