Guys, I'm new to URC, and am trying to find the correct way of addressing missing database codes.
Coming from Pronto side of the world, there was "My Database" section that I stored my created/updated devices.
I've gone thru most of the URC's tutorial video's and thus far I have not found a way to view/create/update my own database.

For example: I have UPB room controller (lights) that I would like to control. I also am testing Vizio Soundbar. Neither appears in the URC's database (CCP live update is up to date).

How do you handle creating new devices?

Mario, Welcome to URC. It's a fantastic control system, but there are differences you will immediately notice, the My Database featuer on Pronto being one of them. Currently, the only way to store hyour own database entries is with configuration files. For example, I have a prototype MX-980 template and others that have many different devices. I import the devices from each that I need for a new remote.

The Total Ctontrol line addresses this need and hopefully one day CCP will have this ability.

Regards,
Vincent

I build a bunch of remotes with one or two devices I've learned in them and name the remote that device. I also have remotes preprogramed with common configurations laid out how we like to arrange them. Saves a lot of time at the end of a job and keeps your remote systems consistent.
Our main remote is the MX880, and we use it on most of our standard jobs, so we've build a pretty big base of designs.

Good advice there for you Mario. The more resources you have in your bag of tricks the better. We use a combination of URC database, RTI megalist, Crestron database, manufacturer's posted command sets and protocols, as well as a growing list of pronto hex accumulated over the years. This combined with an unwillingness to work with garbage equipment and known devices with no discretes or poor control protocols makes our installs go smoothly.

Thanks guys. I was hoping it would be easier that this, soft of like the other URC platform that I did a video tutorial on, but I guess I'll have to make this work.
Now I see why people said that Pronto editor was ahead in many aspects.

How do you import devices from saved projects? Is it a page at a time, device, or do you have to merge the whole project file?

How do I submit Pronto Hex codes to URC to add to the global database?
I realize that some of us may think of that as IP and not want to share it with competition; I for one want all of us to benefit from work I do.
That, and in this case the MFG has provided the hex in their word document.

This is for the HAI's lighting control on their room controllers (or scene controller).

Mario-

Have you taken the URC webinar classes that are availble in the control room? If not you should, because it will give you a firm grip of the sotware and features.

Vincent, a did go thru most of the tutorials. The stuff that I wasn't clear on usually ends up either something that does not work on URC, or the process wasn't covered in the training.

Do you guys know how to export a code/function out of Pronto's Editor? I know how to work with hex in CCP, but can't seem to figure out how to get the actual hex code in Pronto editor's database program.
I'll start searching this forum and the net. I'm sure it's doable, I just never had to do it.

It's been a long time since I've done it but from what I remember you need to get to the "Button Properties" screen. Then click on "Set IR" which will bring up the "Add IR" panel. Then click on "View IR", which will display a box labeled "IR Code" that should have the hex code in it.
