When I asked about MX-980 at BB back in December, they told me they didn't have a "special machine to program those". Perhaps he was referring to USB cable. :)

The MX-980 and the MX-1200 among others require the CCP(Complete Control Program) software in order to program them. Only available through an authorized dealer. the remotes do come with the USB cable necessary to connect to your computer.

Yes, I'm aware of that. Which is why I found it funny that BB employee started giving me obvious misinformation about some "special machine". In case you didn't get the point of my post.

Best Buy does not have the capabilities to program the MX980 (or the 1200 or any other CCP device).

If purchased with programming from them (it can only be done through a Magnolia Audio/Video instore department), and is then Sent off to Magnolia Installation Programmers - with only very basic database programming. They are also not allowed to give out the software as the the in store clerks do not have access to it and the programmers are for lack of a better description a 3rd party service hired to program it and in turn also not allowed to give out the software to the end user.

- this was the case as recently as October

hope that makes sense
