I have a media streamer (Pivos AIOS) and I have verified that there is only a power toggle switch and no discreet code. When I manually turn it off (on seems to be ok), I have to hold the MX-980 button that controls its power switch down for a bit. I am guessing it repeats the IR transmission until it registers with the unit? Its easy to know when to let go because I just watch the streamer unit and watch for when the light goes out on the manual power button on it. I think there is some sort of delay as there is a hard drive built into it and I think it goes to sleep so when you hit the power putting on the remote, it has to "wake" the drive and then wait and then you can turn it off? I am not sure about this, and its just my theory.

The problem is, when I run a macro that includes turning this unit off (on works fine), it seldom works on this unit.

Any suggestions of how to try different things so that maybe the macro sends the signal just for this device "longer".

If I am totally off base here, can someone suggest what else to try?

I know that this is the inherent problem with non discreet codes as it would be easily solved as if it were discreet I could program the macro to send the "off" command several times.

Thank you in advance

This is only a shot in the dark.

Build a system off macro that turns everything off except your problem child.

On the Pivos device page, leave the toggle power on the red off button, and add the all off macro to fire next. So you have an IR code followed by a macro.

I've used this once or twice for a DVD with toggle power successfully. It can get out of sync, but presumably you would only get the toggle power sent with device on and while you are on that page.

Holding the button could give you the longer duration for off that you need.

LMK.

Tom,

Thanks for your help. I am just a little confused by this

"leave the toggle power on the red off button"

could you you please elaborate?

Are you saying to program a separate power button on my MX-980 for the AIOS unit and manually just hit that and then after that hit the button with the macro to turn the rest of the devices off? A 2 step process?

The other problem I have is that the AIOS is in a wood cabinet (non see through) so I have to open the cabinet to see that it turns off. A lot of steps (open cabinet, hit power toggle, hit macro button, close cabinet)

It would be nice to just hit one button and trust that everything gets turned off.

My guess is that you already have toggle power on the off button when you are on that device. The macro window shows the IR command. Add the macro command just after it so both ate on the button. The IR power command fires first, then the macro.

You can adjust the length of the IR repeat for each button. So if you go to your server's page of commands, select the power toggle button, go to the macro window and double click the IR command, it will pop up a window. Increase the number of repeats from the default of 3 to whatever number it needs to be to work. I do not know if there is a limit to this, but worth a shot.

I am pretty sure this will also be carried over to macros aliasing that button as well. So you could easily create a variable to track the power state of the unit and get a decently reliable level of control over it.

Hope you get it figured out.
