Hi guys,

I'm just about ready to finish up programming my remote. One device I'm struggling with however is my media player...IconBIT XDS1003D 3D Network Media Player. Logitech carries the Himedia 900B which is basically the same player but that's even the toggle power on and off. So bottom line is I can't find the discrete on off codes and I don't think I will as these units are fairly new from China and pretty obscure.

Can someone help me write the variable and else if command so I can have the unit power off when I switch to it on and switch off when I power the system down or activate another component please?

You need to tell us which remote and programming software you are using. Variables are handled differently depending on the model.

Sorry....meant to include that.

MX-980 with the residential CCP.

So I just want to be able to turn it on and change the inputs (easy part) but when I switch to my tivo or blu ray..or tv (has netflix and internet video) I would like to be able to turn it off without having to seperately turn it off and have it all part of the switching macro.

In your power up macro add a variable (click on the v=1 in the macro box): VAR(Mediabox = true)

Then in all of your power off and power on macro's for your other sources put the following:

If (variable(mediabox,true)
mediabox power command
Var(mediabox = false)
else
Var(mediabox = false)

You have to always remember to set your variable to false.

You could also add the same if then statement as above in reverse to power it on so it checks the variable first to be false before issuing the power command.

Why are we helping people who are not dealers and are not trained?

Isn't it part of the URC business model that they strongly discourage individuals from programming their own systems just because of situations like this where volunteer help from professionals is needed... or an installer who knows how to program is needed?

Whoever gave this guy the software should be answering his questions.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Settle down Ernie.. it's not like he just gave away instructions to build a nuclear bomb.

adk highlander... thank you for the help. I had that same setup pretty much but instead of mediabox I had named it power. Makes sense your way.

+1

It's not like it's a forum for building nuclear bombs either.

Why don't you all password this forum then and only let the "professionals" in? Otherwise it's a public forum. You shouldn't chastise those who are willing to help DIY's and the DIY's who ask for help.

I would help anyone with anything if I could. But that's just me I guess.

This is not a "Help" forum like many are out there. This is a forum to discuss the product, the features, the coming soons, and the wish lists. I have provided many people with help as well as others here. The question this person asked has not only been answered a thousand times, but is available line for line in his software online help manual. Also, you should not chastise dealers who sell this product as a living and have to take days off of work unpaid to go to training and other commitments. When dealers do give out the software, they should be responsible for the help. If not, there is a manual available in the software which details this in one page. If that is too hard, a simple search will get his answer. This issue is not as black and white as wanting to help people and not wanting to help people as you paint it.

I really don't see the problem here. This IS a PUBLIC forum after all. If you don't like it, go to IP or ESI. If you want to help fine, if you don't, don't, but please get off the high horse bulls%$t. If anyone's to blame it's URC for their software policy on what they call "Professional Series Remotes". And if this is NOT a "Help" forum, why is it so many of us professionals ask for help on it?????

URC manual, page 83 "How to create a fission chain reaction". Didn't you look in the help section?

If anyone's to blame it's URC for their software policy on what they call "Professional Series Remotes".

Blame for what?

Are you kidding me? Just go to the forum search and key in "variables" in the message search. Are you telling me that help hasn't been given on this subject a thousand times already?

They're to blame for letting dealers give out their software for their professional series remotes. It should be like RTI and Crestron, dealer only. And I've been a URC dealer for over 4 years.

Are you kidding me? Just go to the forum search and key in "variables" in the message search. Are you telling me that help hasn't been given on this subject a thousand times already?

It has nothing to do with searching the forum or variables. Did you not not read my post? Was it too complicated for you? I didn't mention variables or search anywhere.

You say this isn't a "Help" forum yet 90% of it is people asking for help! He asks a question, someone helps and Ernie jumps in chastising him for helping. Yet Ernie's on here asking some pretty easy questions that any URC dealer should know, why didn't you jump all over him for not searching the forum? If you're a dealer you're allowed to ask basic questions but if you're a DIY you're not? If you want to give people s*&t for not searching before asking a question then you're going to be busy because 80% of the questions asked here could be answered by a search. If you don't want to deal with it go to IP or ESI, pretty simple.

Like I said, this is a Public forum so anybody has access to it. If you don't want to help, DON'T, it's a pretty easy concept. If someone wants to take time out of their day to help, let them, but they shouldn't get s*&t for it.
