I have an aeros mx-850 and a Denon 3806. For years I've dealt with a volume issue. For starters I have to push and hold the volume button to make a change. It's impossible to increase the volume by .5 db. I can only ramp the volume up. As you can imagine this is very annoying. To make matters worse it takes about .5/sec for the receiver to start increasing volume and once it does it goes up quickly.

Today I had enough and decided to go and buy a new receiver...the Denon 2312ci. However before I went and made my impulse buy I programmed my remote and took it with me. Guess what...same thing. Argh!!!!

Programming the remote is a breeze and I understand all the in's and out's of programming this remote. I've tried every trick possible. The one thing I was able to do that made a difference was to put a button on the LCD with a macro. The macro was set to delay .1 and then volume -. This seems to work better but it doesn't ramp and it's not an optimal solution.

Is there something wrong with the remote? It's doing this with the old and new receivers. Someone please help.

Steps tried:
Learn button
Learn with hand over remote and then remote
Learn with multiple push of volume button
Macro
Multiple Denon codes

Thank you in advance for any information you may provide

Use Denon Code 811 for the primary main zone set. There are 2 additional code sets for the new series but you will need to add 2 additional recvrs to your programming to use them. They are codes 812 and 813. 811 is a solid proven code set. IF that does not work then you have a problem with your 850.

tga8rs are you saying that 811 should work for the 2312ci? If so do you have any advice for the 3806?

What happens when you use the Denon AVRs remote ? If it is the same problem, check to see if that AVR has a volume ramp speed adjustment in the setup menu, some do.

I remember having denon volume issues with the 06 or 07 or 08 series. It was a differences in ramp speed with the avrs. I never got a good answer out of denon. That is about the time we signed up with integra. I do not remember more than one client who complained about it like you are. But I understand the frustration. Something as simple as a volume control should not be such a pita.

Guys, thanks for all the input. Here is an update.

I checked craigslist for an mx-850 and someone was selling a brand new one for $70. I gave him $80 if he would ship it. I received it today and sure enough it was brand spanking new. I uploaded (or I should say "downloaded"...lol URC should really fix that) to the remote and bingo everything now works. Looks like it was something with my other remote. Glad it's resolved and I really have to hand it to tgav8rs. You hit the nail on the head. Thank you my friend.

i know this is old but i want to chime in and say i have same problem with my denon. Just always lived with it but other remotes work fine (like my dish network remote). My 850 is near end of life and this was one thing that was holding me back from buying it again. good to hear it might have been just the remote.
