Hi-
I am setting up a MX-5000 to control a system consisting of 5 devices with Macros to turn all devices On/Off and make all of the necessary input changes, sound selections and such. Everything is working great with the exception of turning the TV on/off.

When tested in the database section of the programming it works fine. I previously had this setup using a MX-3000 and everything was fine.

I know its difficult to answer with the info provided - but does anything pop for anyone. I have been trying to figure out for 2 days - I'm sure it's something simple I'm missing.

Thanks!
Ted

I assume you're using a TV with Discrete Power On and Power Off codes, (not that that is immediately relevant).

Can you program (alias) the TV IR commands onto a separate button and work the TV from the remote that way? If that works, the problem might be caused by the macro sequence.

Is the TV Power code the first step in your macros or are there other commands that the remote emits before it? You might try moving the code around; adding a delay before and after it; or (if it is a discrete command) sending it twice in a row.

Yes, I am using Discrete Codes.

I programmed the Power On and Off codes on to two extra buttons in the DVR section - same result, did not work.

I have tried the above to no avail!

Thanks for the reply!

There is entirely too little info to even start to suggest anything. Brand and possibly model TV? IR or RF? Codeset used if possible? You have to help us to help you.

Okay, here is a start - let me know if you need more.

TV Brand is WD82837 and I used Code set that was labeled as 450 in the URC IR codes listed in the program. While making these choices in the "Database" section of the URC Program option I connected the USB cable from my laptop to the MX-5000 - then selected the Power On and Off Functions from the list - and with the remote pointed toward the TV I alternately pushed the TEST selection and the TV cut ON an OFF as it should. So I am assuming that I have selected the proper code set.

I then selected the proper RF function for all of my devices connected to my MRF-350 and the correct output from the MRF-350 for all of my devices. I used this same setup in a configuration for my MX-3000(Everything works fine).

Upon running Macros to turn all devices ON/OFF - Two DVR's, AV Receiver all operate properly, but the TV is not changed. I am using the Discrete Power ON/OFF codes and as stated above I have varied the position of the TV command and delays within the Macro.

I hope this is enough. I am no expert, but by the same token it is not my first rodeo.

Thanks
Ted

Ted, Email me your file and I will see if anything looks incorrect.

To confirm, do you have an emitter on the TV or are you controlling it with line of sight only?

Ok, for starters, you listed the model number, not the brand. The brand is Mitsubishi. As TCR above asked, do you have an emitter on the TV? You mentioned that you "have selected the proper RF function". I am not entirely sure what you mean by this. I am guessing you have selected to control the devices via RF. If this is the case, just a hint when programming equipment you are not sure if the codes work. Always program and test with IR first. Once you confirmed everything works you then change everything over to RF.

Ok, IF you have assigned everything to RF, you will have to place an emitter on the TV. The Mitsubishi DLP has a small access hole on the side that will allow you to reach in and place the emitter on the TV's IR receiver. If you have not done this, then I suspect this is the cause of your problems.

Working fine now - bottom line I had to increase the IR output on the MRF-350 and it started working fine. I still do not know why it was working fine with the MX-3000.

I did pickup some great tips from Vincent @ TCR to help in this and future setups.
