Yamaha's dealer site has all of their codes listed in a format I cannot use.

An example is 7DE1 (power on)

Another example is 7DE2 (power standby)

How can I get these codes into my .mxf file for an MX-850 remote?

I already know how to copy/paste other formats of IR codes into a ccf program, and then use the MX Universal Browser to drag them into the .mxf program. However, this format, (ie: 7DE1) will not copy/paste like that. There must be an easy way to do this, otherwise why would Yamaha provide their codes in this format?

Help?
Thanks

All of the Yamaha codes are in the IR data base of the URC editor.
Are you missing a code from the data base or are you just trying to make the programing really hard?
Every day is a good day.......some are just better than others!

Proud to say that my property is protected by a high speed wireless device!

Pilgram,

Thank you for responding.

However, your two assumptions are completely wrong. I am NOT a novice or a masochist, nor are "All of the Yamaha codes ... in the IR data base of the URC editor." Many are, actually almost all are, but ALL are not. I have programmed hundreds of MX-type remotes and am also a Yamaha dealer. Rather than go into all the details, trust me, the two codes that I need for a particular model receiver are NOT in the database. This model uses a unique set of codes, which are NOT included in the database.

If you cannot answer my original question, thanks anyway, but I'll wait for someone who can.

You can use the MakeHex program to generate a full set of 256 Pronto Hex strings for device code 7D.

Then you can use the IrPanels program to convert that to a CCF file with 256 numbered buttons.

Then you can use the Universal browser to drag from selected numbered buttons.

Some facts you'll need:

Yamaha uses the NEC1 protocol, so you'll need to use the NEC1.irp file in MakeHex.

MakeHex has no GUI. Double clicking MakeHex.exe gets you nothing. Read the ReadMe file to find out how to use it.

MakeHex produces Pronto Hex in hex (of course) but works with device numbers and function numbers in decimal.

The device number 7D hex is 125 decimal.

The function codes E1 and E2 hex are 225 and 226 decimal.

BTW, I've downloaded and decoded a bunch of CCF files that use Yamaha device code 7D. None of then include commands E1 or E2. So your claim that this one is different from typical Yamaha codes makes sense.

To johnsfine,

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

I did exactly what you said, and it worked.
Nothing like clear, judgement-free technical help...

BTW, this 7DE1 and 7DE2 are discrete p-on/p-off codes for the Yamaha RX-777 receiver. Yamaha does not even show that receiver as having any "extended" codes at all, but after some digging, Yamaha tech support located the ONLY other Yamaha receiver ever made (RX-596) that uses the same basic IR code set as the RX-777. It turns out that the RX-596 extended codes DO work on the RX-777 as well.

My client is happy
I am happy

PS I'll post the entire mxd file for the Yamaha RX-777 and RX-596 in the files area soon.

Thanks again.
