I have the complete control program but I have no idea how to go about setting it up. I have windows 7. Trying to get this set up for a 980. There are multiple folders.....

Trying to exexcute the rcsetup and it gives me an error that it is not a valid win32 application. Do I need to setup drivers??

this is from the URC Website

Getting MX 3000 and MX 980 connected using Windows Vista

Previously Microsoft has used Active Sync on most versions of windows operating systems as a mobile device manager. However, the new Windows Vista operating system uses a new synchronization platform called, “Windows Mobile Device Center.” Although Active Sync is no longer available for Vista, our MX 3000 and MX 980 model remote controls can still connect and sync with a Windows Vista based PC. Simply install mobile device center as outlined below:

A. Install Windows Mobile Device Center 6 from this address:
[Link: microsoft.com]
B. Plug in the MX-3000/MX 980 Universal Remote. (Windows will automatically try to locate the drivers)

1. Right-click on "Computer" and select "Manage"
2. Open the Device Manager, next select the Mobile Device – URC USB Sync MX.
3. Right-click and select "Update driver..."
4. Select browse my computer for driver …
4. In the wizard, select "pick from a list of devices..."
5. In the list, select (Mobile devices)
6. Uncheck “show compatible hardware”
7. Select Microsoft "Microsoft USB Sync".

*You may have to unplug & plug it back in a few times

Ever get these messages when trying to do a “Live Update” with Vista?
(Fail to Download the Patch Info File, or Download Fail, or Unable to Download etc....)

Follow these steps (This helps a lot of the problems but not all)

1. Using an administrator account, go to Control Panel
2. Select User Accounts
3. Turn User Account Control on or off
4. Uncheck the (UAC) box
5. Restart the computer and open up Complete Control Suite & Live update at will.

i don't think you are opening the proper executable file.   it should be called CCPSetup Residential.exe

how did you obtain the software?

There is no CCPSetup Residential.exe
Why would there be a residential.exe if it's a professional software only?

My program has many folders... all of the remotes that CCP programs, an apple folder a USB folder, a help folder with many PDF's in there. I've only briefly played around with it but was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. There are many dll files... etc.

because there is a commercial version of it as well.  and I assumed you were not working from that version.

I thought you were having issues installing the program, not running it.  if the program is already installed, then just run the CCP.exe file

on my PC it is located here:    C:\Program Files\Universal Remote Control, Inc\Complete Control Program\CCP.exe

I have the residential version, but I would assume the commercial would be the same.

Well that is the issue:

The program is not installed. When I click on the CCP.exe or even the CCPsetup.exe it gives me the microsoft (doomp) sound with a dialogue box that the it is not a valid win32 application. There are some drivers and stuff that I could install but I'm not sure how to go about things from here.

I suspect I may be using a 64bit version ccp program on my 32 bit machine. is the program separated into 64/32 bit and not combined?

there are only two downloads available, one for residential, and the other for commercial.  it is not divided up into 32 or 64 bit.  As far as I know, it should work on either version.  the only major product that will not work with 64 bit, is the MSC400 system controller.

I would try uninstalling the program, download a fresh copy, and reinstall.   maybe you had a corrupt download.

Well I managed to get the program running. Problem was I was choosing the ccp.exe in the 980 folder and not in the main root of the folder. Also managed to update it as well. version 1.8.102.1219. Sound about right guys?
