I am at the point where I can incorporate more complicated programing.
Please correct me if I am wrong on anything
I have been reading up on variable macros.
I have an Oppo DVD player that has a seperate on and off switch. You can not just have one switch. I would rather have one icon (power) instead of 2 (power on & power off) on my remote to control it.
As I understand it, CCP & The MX-980 lets you program it so that it will know if the unit is on, so that it will only issue and off command and vice versa. It has something to do with the "if" button, but I don't quite understand it.
And I suspect it just remembers the last command issued to the unit. It doesnt actually "check" with the unit, get feedback from it and issue the right command. Therefore things can get out of sync if something blocks the unit during IR transmission?
If someone could walk me through the proper way to use the "if" button and variable macros, I would greatly appreciate it. An actual example would be very helpful.
Thanks.

Why would you want to use a variable when discrete codes are available? It is much better to program discretes whenever possible.
