I believe I already know the answer, but here goes...

I have the URC MX-950, which I bought a couple of years ago. I just built an HTPC for my home theatre and I wanted to reprogram my remote to switch my AVR to the HTPC using the MX-950.

I already have the app that I used to program the remote last time, and have been able to program it. But now I see that I cannot use the program with Windows 7 (all I have are copies of Windows 7) because ActiveSync is blocked for download for Windows 7.

Am I just out of luck? And if so, what are my alternatives?

My rack is in a closet behind the seats and to the left in my home theatre room, so I need RF because there is no line of sight. I have the URC RF to IR system (URC MRF-250) in the closet, which works perfectly, and I would like to find a solution that works with it, or just like it.

What should I do?

Thanks in advance...

Other than using an XP computer, you would at need Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate where you can run the program in XP mode. I haven't tried it but I'm told that works.

Nope it doesn't. But I did get it to work using Windows Device Manager 6.1 (running under Vista compatibility) and a particular trick. let me know if you want me to tell you what it is.

If you've found something that works, by all means post it here for everyone's benefit.
