Well, last night my MX-980 stopped sending IR commands during the Steelers game. I've tried reloading the to factory defaults and installed configs back to it. I did hold it really close to my DVR and on every maybe 10 times I hit a button it registers, but only if I'm an inch away from the receiver. Does this sound like a physical problem or something I can fix? I'd hate to have to buy another remote because this is only 18 months old.

Any ideas???

Did you swap your TV by any chance? If it's a Sharp or Sony LCD it could be IR interference.
See our Youtube page for info about smart homes, great audio and more.

Nothing has been changed out. Hasn't been dropped or anything. Just stopped working.

Only the DVR? Do other components respond? Using a base station?
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

No components respond unless I'm about 4 inches from them. I called URC and they said the would replace it for $317. I'm fairly disappointed that my MX-980 barely made it 18 months before failing. For the money I paid for this remote, I would expect better. I lasted no longer than my Logitech remotes I had in the past. I spent more expecting more. Guess I was wrong.

Mine will stop sending commands every once in a while. Even the red "command sent" icon stops lighting. All I need to do is pull the battery for a few seconds and it works fine again. Seems to happen when I stack multiple commands Ithink DirecTV DVR and hitting 30 sec skip 5-6 times quickly).
