I'm having some issues now that I have added a second 250 to my system.  I built a garage and have a workout room above it.  I ran several cat5 wires over for the 250, wireless internet, and a component balun.  Approx 60ft.  I tested the wires and all are working properly.  I have a good internet connection and I am receiving audio and video through the balun fine.  The 250 is giving me fits.  I am getting only a few functions to work.  I do see the rf light flash when I press a key so it seems like it is getting the signal from the KP-900 and it is getting power.

When adding the second 250 to the msc I added both anteanna's to the phoenix connector as is recommended.  I am also now getting some odd response issues now in the house which I never had before.

Is there a particular way I should wire the remote anteanna?  I do have a patch panel on each end.  Should I wire the keystones in a straight wire configuration?  Should I double the wires(both blue's for data, both oranges for +, etc)?

I have done multi MSC400 with multi RFX-250's and I have found out have the RFX-250's as far apart as I can. I move the main RFX-250 to a center location in the house and only use one RFX-250 or as far apart as possible.

Thanks for commenting J Todd. Right now I do have them as far apart as I can. Today I will move one to a central location in the house and see if the remote in the garage can hit it. Thanks!!

I have an odd situation with an L-shaped residence needing coverage that I am not sure one antenna will provide. Master at one end of the L, kitchen at other, and entertainment center right in the middle. Also, the pool, in the middle, will need to be covered, making a pattern just about like a square needed.

One antenna in the middle - maybe a little sketchy in all areas, two might be too close. From what I read here, two need to be far apart to prevent interference.

Other than trial and error...

Some access exists now during remodel.

Tom,

Can you run several Cat 5s around during the re model to cover your ass and play around with different scenarios during trim out?

I'm fond of of running a Cat 5 to a couple of ceiling speaker areas; so I can remove a ceiling speaker, plug in the antenna and pop it up into the ceiling to see if that is a good permanent place. And that way you can always access the RFX. This strategy has always serviced me well (label all the Cat 5s at the head end so you know which one is which - duh)

That's a great trick! I had under-the-house plans but wanted the antenna higher up.

How close is too close for two RFXs?

I've done probably 10 systems with 2 antennas (can't ever remember doing 3) and they've always been at least 50' apart. I've never had the balls to try them closer.

So far, I've never experienced they conflict issues that have been reported by having the antennas too close.

I've also done systems with 2 RFXs and 2-3 MSC400s and, by and large, they work well (sometimes suffer from the ports opening up and command collisions when multiple people are using multiple remotes at the same time)

Tom, how many controllers are you using? If more than one and they are dedicated for a particular zone you can mix and match 418 and 433 antennas and controllers. For instance 418 in the middle and 433 on the ends. You can power up to 3 RFX off a single MSC.

1 controller.

Think I will start with one RFX and have prewiring ready to add one if needed.
