Hey all. I am new to the forum so sorry if this doesn't make much sense right away.

I currently own mx450 remotes and just upgraded my receiver to marantz av7005. The installer said I'd need to upgrade to mx880 or mx980 in order to fully control 3 zones. I wanted to know if there is someone out there that can help me program the 450s or confirm he is right. I know the 880 or980 you need to get software for also which I dunno where I'd get it from.

What I need the remote doing is basically have the kitchen play iPod while family room has a blu ray on. Now it's playing the same thing in all zones.

Any help is very appreciated. Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place.

Thanks.

OK. You could use the MX-450 but I would use a MX-880 or better. To use the MX-450 would take hours to program. The MX-880 is a great remote but for multi zone systems I don't use anything less then a MX-980.

If it were me, I would use the MX-5000. The MX-5000 can get 2-way info and network streaming on the remote on all zones. A much better way to control the Marantz.

Probably best to understand your setup and what you are trying to do before we can give the best answer for you. Are you using all 3 zones? How are you using them? Example: are you just looking to select the source and control volume OR do you want control of the devices in each zone. A lot of our customers just want to turn on zone 2, start the tv or pandora playing in the zone and be done with it. They aren't looking for channel changes, guide selections, etc. A lot of the newer IP/2-way remotes are making these selections much easier, so that may change.

Hey thanks for getting back to me guys... so this is what i have going on

Marantz av7005
Aragon Amp
Oppo blu ray player
Wii
WD TV live (going to connect it soon)
2 uverse boxes
ipod

the URC device i have is MRF-260

zone 1 (family room)- tv with 5.1 setup, uverse, blu ray
zone 2 (kitchen) - 2 speakers
zone 3 (master bed) - 2 speakers ..this room does have tv also and uverse which i like to turn the uverse onto the speakers at times

What i want to do is be able to control all those devices in zone 1..for zone 2 i would need only audio to work there from ipod uverse and bluray... for zone 3 i need only audio from uverse and ipod

I am open to getting any remotes but the problem is not having the software or really knowing someone with the software to do this for me... if there is someone local that would love to help me out i am open to paying for this too but would like it to be done correctly.

you suggested looking at the mx980 or mx5000 will these work with the receiver i have now? again sorry if im not making stuff clear im pretty new to all this.

From the authorized dealer you get the remote from.

I would strongly advise that you get a separate remote for the master bed. A mx450 will be fine for that. Have 1 remote for two different viewing areas is a hassle IMHO.

Also, if you list where you are from it will be easier to find someone that may be able to help that is local to you.

Hey golden... i have 2 mx-450 already which 1 is being used for master bed and 1 is for the family room which im thinking to upgrade.

im located in glendale, ca

now i have a few new questions about remotes... if i was to get the mx5000 or mx6000 will it still send me feedback on the ipod stuff telling me how much time is left or which song its on and so on? i am using the mrf260 receiver.

last nite i added wdtv live and i tried to program the mx450 to learn each button which it saved just fine.. only problem was nothing worked except the power on and off.
