I haven't done a MX-880 in CCP before. I've used the stand alone editor before but never messed with graphics.

Is it possible to replace buttons on the device pages in a MX-880 to something other than the selected theme for that device?

Or............ is it only possible on the favorite pages?

I believe you can only replace the entire theme, not the individual buttons. There's a bunch of free ones here.
