You guys have been a huge help to me so far so I hope you don't mind another couple questions.
I have 4 devices in which I am using serial control. When I add devices in the MX-980, I lays the buttons out nicely, but attaches IR to them. I have NO IR set up for my devices and don't intend to add cables since I have direct and reliable control through the serial port and the MSC-400.
So question is; Is there a way to layout and map the serial controls to the corresponding buttons automatically?

Thanks again!
Clay

PS. The other question is coming but not related to this one!

Okay sorted that out by searching for something else and found the answer. And NO you can't map them automatically.

May I ask where you got the RS232 connectors for the MRC-400 and what the price is for them? I think i would like to go the RS232 route, too but it seems difficult to find those cables.

Oliver,

Any URC dealer will sell them. Either as single cable in both male or female configuration. $20 to $30 per cable.
They also cell a MSC-400 starter kit which has a male and female RS-232 cables included, as well as video and power sensing cables ,sleeved IR emitters etc. Purchasing one of these is a must for getting started into MSC--400 programming.

You can also make them, although the 4 pin connector is a little tricky to find.

If you are using a MSC-400 without RS-232 you're definitely not using it's potential.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the speedy reply, unfortunately I did not get a notification as I did not activate it, I have noticed now that it is necessary. I will try to locate a knowledgable URC dealer who will be able to help me out.

Can you elaborate on that starter kit a bit?
Is that a package that is always identical?

Thanks!

Oliver
