I have the MX-980 editor on 4 computers -- one with XP, one with XP professional, one with 32-bit Windows 7, and one with 64-bit Windows 7. The 64-bit Windows 7 (my default computer) operation has some significant flaws that do not appear on the other setups. The "Create Button Layouts" program is non-functional. No templates are listed, and no buttons can be created. When a new device is added, there are no default pages or buttons. Instead a user must manually add in all buttons. Other threads mentioned a few suggestions, such as run as administrator and use the expansion pack, which did not help. In one thread, a user said URC software is not compatible with 64-bit Windows operating systems (only 32-bit). I know at least the MX-900 editor works in 64-bit systems. Is there a way to make the Create Button Layouts tool work in 64-bit Windows 7?
I also ran into another odd issue, which I did resolve. Live Updates initially only worked on the 64-bit Windows 7 computer and not the others. I tried running as admin, disabling virus protection/firewall, changing user access, etc -- nothing worked. Eventually I figured out what was different about the Windows 7 setup was not the operating system; it was that I had previously done Live Updates with the MX-900 editor on that computer. If I installed the MX-900 editor on the other computers and did a Live Update, then I was able to Live Update with MX-980. Note that preforming MX-950 Live Updates had no effect, only preforming a MX-900 Live Update resolved the problem.
