Hey guys, I need help. I have the above and want to be able to switch between custom and standard display modes on the plasma but can't figure out how to do that. For example I have a tivo and an xbox 360 hooked up to my denon receiver.. then one hdmi cable out to the tv. I would like to keep it that way. However, I like standard display mode for the tivo and custom mode to play games with. I don't really want to run a separate line for the 360 to the tv, is there a way to program the remote so it can switch between custom and standard when I select watch tivo or play 360? I looked thru all the IR codes available and couldn't find it, suggestions would be great

is that button available on your orignal remote? if so, you may need to learn it to your 950 on the tivo, and 360 page and toggle between displays
why have a nice system if you cant operate it, program the remote the right way the FIRST time!

No that button isn't available, I need to first press menu, then select, then choose between 5 different display options : e.g. standard, custom, thx, vivid etc.
I think I'm going to be stuck with another hdmi cable.. which isn't a big deal, just would have been easier.

when selecting the two modes, is it the same set of steps each time?  if so, you could create a macro to do it for you.  you will just have to play around with the timing of the delays and codes to get it right.

write down the exact steps you take each time you switch modes, and program the remote to do the same thing.

if there is a code available, just not listed anywhere, you can find out by generating all the possible codes for the TV using Makehex.  ask in the discrete code section of the forum about doing this.

Its not the same every time because it depends on what I was watching last. For example, I have to hit "menu", then hit "enter" to select display modes. Then it cycles between Standard->Custom->Vivid->THX->Cinema every time I press right, then exit to get out of the menu. So If I was watching tivo and wanted to play xbox, yeah I could program it to go menu, then enter, then select right, but I don't think it would work perfectly every time, because if I had just watched xbox and pressed xbox again, the thing would be all messed up. I wish it were "reset" every time when I press menu, then it would be easier.
Thanks for the advice.

You can use if/then statements and variables to track what state it is in and make the macros work. Not too difficult....especially if you only need 2 modes.

Can you tell me how to do that? My URC programming is good, but not that great, can you point me in the right direction? I've never done variables before.
Thanks

I just noticed that I read your post wrong. I thought you had a mx980....with the 950 you can still use variables to work around your issue. I will need more time to explain it fully, but you might try searching this forum....I know it has been explained before.....when I have more time, I will check in again.

Hi guys, while for those interested I figured out how to do this. I ditched the URC remote and got a simple harmony one. It works, and it works well. Its so easy to program! No more windows, no more URC stupid software with their weird updates. All I did was program the harmony so it would switch to game mode by menu->ok->left arrow->menu when I clicked on play xbox 360, and then the reverse (right arrow) when the activity ended. So simple. Man, all those hours and time with URC.

Hope this helps someone! Now I don't need to run a 2nd hdmi cable!
