Hi Everyone.

Kind of a long shot here but I figured I would ask.  I have 3 MX-980's that I run with my MS-400 in my house.

I noticed a few weeks ago that the batteries just dont hold up for very long.  Maybe a few hours each.  Sometimes it seems less then an hour.  These were all bought years apart and two of them have had the batteries replaced already (not at the same time either) and the replacement held up great when I first got them.

Now all of a sudden they drop off really fast.  And when the low battery indicator comes up they can still be used for a while after dismissing it.  I also noticed that when it does run down, put them in the charger, and then pick it up once it turns blue that the Battery symbol may take a good 2-3 seconds to ram up to full (dont know if it has always done that but never noticed until now).

It almost seems like the calibration is out of wack.  Has anything change in one of the complete control updates?  Figured I sould ask before ordering new batteries.

Thanks
Ernie

We have replaced a handful of 980 batteries over the years. Are yours swelling up? Check their plumpness. If the are even a little round, get new ones.

there is a setting inside the setup menu to change when the battery warning popup occurs.  i believe it is defaulted to 20%.

Thanks guys.  Didnt see any swelling.  And I did drop the warning to the lowest setting in the remote's internal screen.

I just went ahead and ordered new ones.  That is probably the fix.  Just thought it was strange that all three went at the same time.  I suppose it could be that they started at different times but I just did notice until the worst offender REALLY started acting up.

On a side note, is it possible to upgrade firmware on these?  I noticed in the remote settings screen that some had older firmwares then others.  Not that I think it would make a difference with the battery but I always like to have to have the latest firmware on devices.  Or is that only avilable to dealers?

Thanks
Ernie

the firmware is automatically updated when you load a program onto the remote.  so you would have to have the URC software to program the remote in order to update.  It is up to your dealer to give you a copy of the software.  Some will provide it, others won't.

Thansk Duct Tape.  Thats what I figured.  I do have the software actually (CCP) and have done all of my own programming so all three ahve been updated regulary.  Yet one still have the 2007 firware which I thought was strange...
