I have a URC MX 850. The dealer was kind enough to provide me with the MX editor software as we do a lot of work together for mutual clients, they take care of the AV and I handle all the network infrastructure and wireless. Unfortunately I have a Philips TV so no discrete codes for input or power. I have overcome the input issue in the macros by entering numbers to achieve a known state and then cycle the input channels. My problem is with the power command. I realize my mistake when my wife (who is not thrilled with my bringing another "giant remote" into the house told me when she tried to switch to our Roku to watch Netflix things got all screwed up. I had shown her how to go back to Main and then choose the activity. What I did not account for is that if the TV is already on, the macro turns it off. Is there a way to overcome this without created new macros and placing them in on a page in each activity screen?

easiest thing is to change the macro sequencing so that the remote functions as follows...and teach wife to operate in this fashion.

To turn the system on -
Press "main" then "on" - and have macro set the system up for the most common usage source ie cable/sat

To change inputs once on -
Press "main" then pick your source "dvd/roku/etc."

To turn the system off -
Press "main" then "off"

Thanks for the suggestions all. Eastside - I had not even thought to set it up that way.

Jason - looked at the post you suggested but I have no idea how to make use of that info, can you give me some additional info on what to do?

Thanks

Jasons codes are Hex codes, In your MX Editor there is a feature called 'Universal Browser' locate this, open it and copy and paste one of Jasons Hex codes into it, then 'drag and drop' the result to a spare button on your remote and test it.

I once faked a Philips out when I found chan up turned the set on. Worked around from there.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Codeset 629 had one code that worked - AV2 sent the correct command, none of the others though. This at least gives me some hope, if one works I assume there are codes for the other inputs.

As for the hex codes - I cannot find anything in MX-850 editor software called Universal Browser. I suspect I don't have the right software for that.
