I've only been following URC professional series of products for a year but what's up with the delays on new Total Control Products?
Seems like all products are due 'next month'. Is this typical for URC? When are we going to see the touch screen remote, TKP-2000 and SNP-1?

"Delays" are part of the business that is tough for all of us, but completely understandable. There are many factors and variables in the production (start to finish) of a product. A product could go ahead of schedule and then get delayed in the testing phase. These products are not made in URC's headquarters. I think URC does a great job of announcing product and getting it out on time. A couple of months delay in most cases is to be expected in this business. At this point nobody knows when the TKP-2000 or th SNP1 will be available, but we do know that some aspect of the roll out required additional testing or some other attention.

Most likely, we'll get some new information in two days at CEDIA.

And then once they are released, it will take another 6 months (minimum) to get most of the bugs out.

Chasing Ernie's post count, one useless post at a time. |

...which is why you should never plan on using completely new technology that has the potential to screw up the success of a project in a clients home/business until you've worked it out in the shop (or your own home) for a while, unless you have a very understanding client and/or more free time than you know what to do with. I had the bad luck of being on the business end of C4's initial rollouts...they have all since been replaced with other control systems. C4, it seems, has come around in the last 3 years or so from what I've heard from dealers, despite what I've witnessed personally with their install at City Center in Vegas which seems to me to be more "programming" (if you can call it that) related.

I'm using total control to run my own house so I'm only annoying myself. Looking forward for new info from CEDIA.

Hank might have been a bit more detailed on his video interview, but I don't recall exactly what he said and I can't really check till I get back.

The new devices are slow enough, but where are the extensions?
Security integration, thermostat control - you know the basics of home automation!
How about iPhone/iPad apps - give me something to sell.
