I have been trying to get my MSC-400 to communicate with my Yamaha RX-V1500 with no success. I was wondering if anybody has made this work. I set the parity and baud to Yamaha's specs and am using a null modem. Here are some examples of the strings that I tried that I got from a different thread.

serialstring "DSP: Game" "\x0207EF2\x03"

serialstring "DSP: 7ch Stereo" "\x0207EFF\x03"

serialstring "DSP: Pop/Rock" "\x0207EF3\x03"

serialstring "DSP: Classical" "\x0207EF5\x03"

serialstring "DSP: Mono Movie" "\x0207EF7\x03"

serialstring "DSP: Var Sports" "\x0207EF8\x03"

serialstring "DSP: Spectacle" "\x0207EF9\x03"

serialstring "DSP: Sci-Fi" "\x0207EFA\x03"

serialstring "DSP: Adventure" "\x0207EFB\x03"

serialstring "DSP: General" "\x0207EFC\x03"

serialstring "DSP: Normal" "\x0207EFD\x03"

serialstring "DSP: Enhanced" "\x0207EFE\x03"

Any hints on how to make this work. I thought I would try on my own because I am sick of waiting for URC to put Yamaha's codes in their database.
Thanks,
Chad

I have made it work with an RX-V2300. I connected the MSC directly to the Yamaha, no null modem, with the appropriate gender RS232 cable. Assuming that your commands (7EF8 etc) are correct make sure that you enter the information in the MSC program under ASCII format exactly as it appears here:
\x0207EF2\x03

Here is the Power On that I used on the 2300. It should be the same:
\x0207A1A\x03

good luck

Did testing the RS 232 work through the usb cable or did you have to program the remote and test doing that.
Thanks,
Chad

Ok, with your help, I was able to get the strings to work, but only using my laptop with the USB in test mode. My remote would not trigger the serial codes. It has got to be something obvious. I made the serial codes into smart macros and dragged them onto the appropriate buttons on my MX-950, but they do not trigger the codes from the remote.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Chad
