While editing an MX950 profile today, I added a new device (using the "step 1 - create & name devices" option) - the device appeared in the left-hand device tree, and it also showed up properly in the button properties (see image below, upper-right corner) ... but on the LCD display itself, the device doesn't show up! Upon downloading to the remote, that device button is blank, but pressing it takes you to the device page.

See snapshot below for details ... anyone ever see anything like this?

I tried deleting the device and recreating, but no luck, same thing happens.

Earlier this week, I ran into a similar problem with another device in the same MXA file - this one I'd been using for a while, and I'd overlayed a graphic onto the button; last week I deleted the graphic, and was surprised to see that the underlying text was gone as well. Went into the editor to add the button - and it was still there, it just didn't show up on the LCD panel!

Any help would be appreciated!

Never seen that before. Maybe it's a corrupt file? Have you tried creating a new file with the same buttons to see if that happens? Otherwise, you might try uninstalling and reinstalling the MX-950 editor.

I have had this happen too. I had to create a new file. Something must have gotten corrupt somehow.

Bloody hell - that's freaking annoying. So now I have to start from scratch? I realize I can import the devices, but I have to recreate _all_ my macros from scratch?

URC - help out, please ... even if I have to recreate this and you can't resolve, how about investigating the problem so that this can be resolved w/future releases. I'd be happy to provide the remote file.

I've had that happen to me a few times these past couple of weeks. Haven't figured out why besides thinking that at some point something in the config file gets corrupted. It happened one file, simillar to what you're going through. Devices wouldn't show up, it wouldn't let me delete or edit the name at times, sometimes it would change another device, etc.... I finally sludged my way through that remote by just working around these issues. Then a few days later I used that previous config file to start a similar remote and had the same issues so just had to start from scratch.

Ok,

Netarc has (accidently it would seem) discovered another feature on the MX950. When you replace text with graphics (as he did originally when he replaced the DVD button with a graphic of a DVD) you can select the TEXT button (look at his image at the top of this thread. Do you see TEX with a triangle over it at the top of his capture? That is the TEXT button) and cause the button to lose its ability to display text. This makes the graphics look the same but it allows the device name to still appear in tree view. Does this make sense?
If you unselect the TEXT button your ability to put text on a button will return.

Problem solved!

Thanks to YJ (one of our engineers).

I think there's something else going on at times as well because I don't use any graphics on the 950 and have had this problem, as well as other issues where if I rename one of my "devices" it would actually change the name of a completely different button, usuall it was changing the actual "LISTEN" label at the top of screen. Example: in his screenshot above, I would be trying to change the name "PLSMA" but it would instead be changing where it says "WATCH". And sometimes it wouldn't let me move a device to a different button, I'd go into the button/LCD editor and try and drag a device to a different button but it just won't move it.

I originally had all these issues with a few mx900 remotes so there's something screwy going on at times. I had emailed a mx900 config that had these problems to tech support a little while ago but never heard back from them.
