Ok, I poked around the forums a bit saw some similar threads but nothing discussing this so here goes:

There is an MX950 w/mrf250 in the family room, controlling via IR+RF a Scientific Atlanta 88300HD. The MRF250 is on ID E.

Upstairs in the bedroom there is a URC100 and MRF250. The URC only talks to the 250 if it is on ID0, however I guess this must be a universal RF band because the 950 keeps changing the channels in the bedroom. I tried turning on the dedicated flasher output for the cable (ie Line 4) and then plugging the cable flasher in the bedroom on a different line, but that didn't work (or I programmed it incorrectly).

Anyone have any suggestions as to how I can keep the 950 from chaning the bed room cable box without having to switch remotes?

To my knowledge, the URC100 rf is not addressible(the mrf-250 must be on '0' for it to work with rf).

With the 250 in the bedroom set to '0', it will receive the 950 comands regaurdless of the rf setting of the 950.

I don't deal with the URC100 but I think you will have to up-grade to an MX-350 in the bedroom to make this work.

Try removing the antenna from the bedroom 250.
It might make it out of range from the 950 but still work with the 100 in the bedroom.

Thanks for the response, what is it that the 350 can do that the 250 cannot in terms of making this situation work?

The MX-350 has 'addressable' RF (like your MX-950).
This allows you to operate more than one mrf-250,300,or 350 base station on an address other than '0' (wich is an 'open door' to all URC RF capable remotes.)

Other than that, it is identical to the URC-250.

Perhaps I am missing something here, however the MRF250 is addressable as well. I have to keep the bedroom IR receiver (whether its the MRF250 or 350) on ID0 so that the URC 100 remote can communicate with it. Any other ideas?

The mrf-250 IS addressable, the remote must also be addressable(the URC-100,200,etc. are not).

An mrf set to '0' will receive commands from any remote, it doesn't matter what code the remote is set to.

An mrf set to '1'(for example) will only communicate with a remote set to '1'.

As Pilgram said, you need to get a remote that is addressable. The URC remotes only work on a single RF ID, while the MX models have multiple addresses and are designed to work with the MRF-250 and up. You probably want to consider an MX-350. That will solve the problem.

Thank you,

Thanks, thats what I figured.. .I was just confused as to why the MX950 was still flashing the upstairs MRF250 when I programmed the MX950 flash out of IR Line 4 only, and had the upstairs cable box eye plugged into line 6. I guess on band 0 it flashes all IR emitters no matter what its programmed with.

That's correct. ID "0" is supposed to be used for testing for RF interference and optimizing placement of the MRF-250. When on ID "0", the front blaster is disabled as is individual routing of the emitters.
