I am trying to get my MX-450 to control my projector screen which has an IR remote / controller. I have created a new device called screen and tried "teaching" the up, down and stop commands to the remote. It says "Good" and saves the command but when I point it at the screen controller it doesn't work. Any ideas?

I tried programming to soft buttons and even to the ON/OFF buttons but no luck. I even tried making a macro which repeated the command a bunch of times.

I will eventually be using a MRF-350 with an IR flasher pointed at the screen controller so I could try adjusting the IR emmiter strength then but I doubt that will work if pointing the "taught" remote right at the eye doesn't. Thanks for any ideas.

this happens to me all the time, but mostly with cheaper components or appliances with IR remotes. i found out that sometimes, if i continue to relearn the button more than once, it could just start working, but that doesnt happen often. it doesnt matter which base station im using either. its just finicky. My portable AC does this. Half the buttons work but the other half of the buttons wont learn. it will say learn ok, but wont operate that function while other functions learn ok. On the AC, the IONIZER would learn but not work, but the Temperature UP would not work but the Temperature DOWN would work.

Thank you for responding. I have another MX-450 so I will see if that works better. Anyone have any tips for getting this to work? Any way to improve the way the MX-450 transmits or learns the signal?

If you are using "paste and copy" to that device, ie: paste power on, then a learned command will not be sent but the command from the device you pasted from will be sent when power on is pressed. To clear a paste simply paste from that device to itself.

No, I am "teaching" the command from the screen's remote to the MX-450 using the LEARN command. I wonder if the MX-450 isn't outputting in the proper IR range for the screen's controller. Hopefully the MRF-350 will output a larger IR range, haven't set it up yet. I would appreciate any tips.

Found out that if I have this kind of problem, it usually works if I press the learn button on the mx-450, then hold a book in between the remotes and press the button and lift the book up then back it helps with finicky i/r commands. Hope this helps!
