Always go into the Windows Control Panel and check your ports. It will tell you which COM ports are being used, if any. As long as the COM port address of your adapter is set to match in the MX Editor, it will work. However, you may need to change the port, close the MX Editor and reopen it, in order for the port change to take.

After waiting 2 years he finally gets an answer. Wonder what he's been doing all this time?????

donnie is a new member, so we can cut him some slack. I don't know why it's so, but it seems that only new members dredge up old threads from before the start of time... then answer them as though it's the hottest topic right now. In my snarkier moments I've commented to such newbies that it's not helpful as the original poster might have quit A/V and gone through and then quit an entire real estate sales career by now... so why answer now?

Maybe the newbs are so thrilled to have someone to talk to that they rush through and don't notice the date of the last post!

Hey, donnie, please solve a riddle I've wondered about for years: your response here was the first thing you did, and somehow you located a thread that was buried pages deep in this forum. Here it is: how did you get to this thread in the first place?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

There's reply box at the bottom of every page of a thread, even if the thread is 10 pages long, a reader can reply from page one, never noticing the other 9 pages of responses. If the reply box was only available from the last page, we wouldn't get as many older threads coming back to life.

People search looking for answers all the time. Most of them will never post. Giving closure to an old problem is valuable and it's not bumping or grave-digging/etc.

so I'm new here, as well. what is the preference on this forum? start a new thread on the same subject when you need more info and be told that "this has been discussed ad-nauseum; do a search" or, do a search and add the question to an old thread?
