Like goldenzrule said, you should be able to create a button in the main / watch page that jumps to the device, which will then show the buttons on that device's page. That's what I did when I imported several devices using Transporter in my 990.

When you created the button in the main page, which jumps to the device, did this not create a new device in the name of this button? That is the bottom line question and what this thread is about. If you have figured out a way to create a button, without creating a corresponding device in main page, please let us know.

Thanks

No, no new device is created. In fact do this:

- Find a button that looks like what you want.
- Right click / Copy the button
- Go to the main page you want the button in
- Right click / Paste over the current button position you want
- Right click / Delete contents ... (select Macro in case it has one)

You now have an empty button that looks like what you want.

- Click on the button to select it.
- On the macro panel click on the Jump icon
- In the jump selection panel with the Select Target button selected, click the device you want to jump to in either main section
- Click OK in the jump selection panel

You're good to go.

Understand I did this in my 990, but I think 980 should be the same. I assume you're using the CCP Simulator.

I just tried 990 ccp. It is different. It is easy to do in 990. I can easily copy any image into the 990.. Many images are available. There is no image available for 780, unless you are in the create device page.

780 is different, even though it is same ccp software.
When you select the remote, the layout/simulator is completely (obviously) different.
in780, you cannot create a button in main page, without creating a device.

You're all over the place. Your question was about a 980, now are comparing to a 780, which is a completely different remote, different screen size, different resolution, is a color text based screen versus a true graphical remote in the 980. Completely different animal.

It was inadvertant oversight that I did not realize till now that the title of the thread was about 980. My mistake!

I realize you wrote you were using 990.. I checked 990 ccp yesterday and realized it was completely different.. I should have checked sooner. :)

With 780 you can still create a button without creating a new device. Click on the button you wish to add as a button, go to properties and label it. You will have a new text button.

Goldenzrule is correct. You can then add a jump to page macro step to it. I also have a 780 but been using the MX-700 stand-alone editor for it.

I clicked on the button (page 2 of main menu) i wish to add as a button, I right clicked on it and the only options I see are cut, copy, paste, delete, hidden text. I don't see a properties option. How do I get properties option for a device button?
Thanks for trying to help.

Sorry, but at this point I think your best option is to search for a firm that can help with your programming.

Actually, I figured it out.. All I had to do, was to go to view and select properties!

Again, program a MX780 with a 700? I think you might be talking about a remote other than the 780.

Indeed, you are correct, amazingly it's an MX-700, or should I say a B&K remote which is actually a re-badged MX-700. I must have misread the small label inside the battery compartment.

I could blame senility ... but thanks for insisting on being correct!

Ok, that makes a WHOLE lot more sense. I was wondering how on hearth you programmed a 780 with that software. The MX850 standalone software will also work with the 700 and B&K version
