Trying to connect the MSC-400 to the Verizon FIOS STB (Motorola QIP 7100). I have tried a direct connection from the 400 to the IR Remote Input port on the back using a 3.5 male to male mono cable, but it doesn't seem to be working. Has anyone had success with this? And if so, what did you do to make it work?

I don't know that model but the Motorola boxes here (3416) need a stereo plug for the back, mono won't work.

Are you using a stereo male-to-male into the MSC-400 or are you using a stereo male to mono male into the MSC?

Sorry to bring back this old thread. I'm having the same issue as the OP. In my case I am using a 3.5mm stereo male plug to 3.5mm stereo male plug and it does not work. If I stick a flasher on front of the Verizon Motorola QIP7100 box it does work, so the programming is correct. Any ideas?

My final solution to this was to call Verizon and ask for an IR extender receiver. They should ship one to you at no cost. This will plug into the back of the Moto box and you can tape an IR flasher to the extender.

It's a bit of a kludge but it works and keeps you from having to tape a flasher to the front of your box.

I had tried various combinations of mono->stereo, stereo->mono, mono->mono and pins swaps inside the connectors without any luck. If someone has a way to directly connect the MSC400 to a Verizon Moto box I would love to hear about it.

Thank you for the info. I would be contacting Verizon for an IR extender.
I have read somewhere that people got it working directly from the Verizon Moto box to the MSC-400.

Any chance it needs baseband (unmodulated) data, like the Sony Control-S?
