I always thought it would be very cool if B&K released an *RF* version of it's keypads, which are based on the URC remotes. I'm surprised none of the other keypad manufacturers (Sonance, RTI, etc.) have done it either...

Since you guys are talking about triggering the MSC-400, I thought I'd throw my question in here instead of starting a new thread.

Can sensors such as the Xantech Current Sensing Module ([Link: smarthome.com]) and the Magnetic Field Sensor Module ([Link: smarthome.com]) be plugged directly into the MSC-400? The descriptions on various devices aren't totally clear, I get that they mostly have tolerances around 5-25 Volts, but is that voltage going directly into the MSC-400, or is that voltage interpreted at the sensor, and then a different signal is sent to the MSC-400?

Also, what are the best places to shop online for some of the more obscure devices like these?

I see that the MSC-400 has a IR input which it blasts
out on all ports. Is there any way to do any routing with
the IR at all, like some of the Xantech IR routers?

The RT8 for example has one IR in, and you can control
which port to send the output to. One negative with this
is that the programming is involved since a route has
to be established per IR command and there is no concept
of device level routes.

Perhaps another way to ask the question - how do you make
the MSC-400 work with IR only remotes? Do they have pure
IR Triggers?

How many commands are you wanting to send? Just a few or alot of differant ones?

zytrex: third-party sensors must be fed through URC's voltage sensor, which has a circuit that processes the voltage into whatever the MSC-400 is designed to accept.

Thanks for the replies up to now. I've decided to make a new thread since I'm coming up with so many questions.
