I just upgraded my tv to a new sony 55" KDL-55ex501 and I have also replaced my old mx-850 remote with a new mx-850 remote. In updating my new remote, I am having an issue in finding my new tv on the univeral remote's software. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

Sony seldom changes their IR codes. Just try one of the generic Sony codes in the database, starting with the highest numbered one (currently SONY 22) and work backwards if that doesn't work. The highest numbered generic is always the most current one.
