A couple days ago I found a bug in CCP that I thought may help someone in the future. Also, maybe Dale is sneaking around here and might be able to fix it peranently.

I bought a MCE receiver (Pinnacle PCTV remote kit) for my personal pc and it worked great, with one caveat.

Both the The mx-880 as well as the "microsoft ehome infrared transceiver" shows up in windows as a HID device. For some reason, the CCP software will detects MCE receiver (also a HID device) as a programmable remote and refuse to program the 880 (possibly others). It says it can't connect or something like that.

For most people in the field with a laptop, this is not an issue. However, if you're working on a demo/personal remote and the system also has one of these problem receivers its simple (though tedious) to fix. Unplug the receiver, program the remote, plug the receiver back in.

What do you say Dale? Think you can get that patched up in the next live update?

I can report it, but I'm not part of the engineering team, so I can't make any promises. If you want to send me a model number of the MCE receiver, I can get that to the engineers.

Best regards,
Dale

The model name is "Pinnacle PCTV remote kit". Both amazon and tigerdirect list a seemingly useless "82301001981" as model number.

However, I believe most the MCE transceivers are pretty identical from all companies. I am surprised nobody else has run into this.

I'm not sure if I can paste links here. To be on the safe side I removed one dot and added a space to the domains.
