What is the build date? If it is before 01/31/08 the IR codes need to be learned from different remote. The file in the data base don't work on earlier MX-3000.

I believe the issue with the older remotes is that they are not narrow band RF and because of that they could have communication issues with lighting products. The older remotes may not work at all, may sometimes work, and in some cases might work pretty well. I'm sure I have an older 3000 laying around, if I can find one I will give it a shot.

I'm having trouble following the above.....but I have an pre 1/31/08 MX3000 and am controlling URC dimmers without any problems. I'm assuming you're following the help file on "URC lighting setup". It's listed under the Help menu in your MX3000 editor. Did URC give you MXF files? Using these files and the Universal Browsing Method listed in the instructions you should be able to control your dimmers.

If your editor does not have the lighting help file I have a copy somewhere and can send it to you. Same goes for the MXf files.

Regards,
John

Okay, I pulled an MX3000 out of a box in the basement, it is from 2006. I downloaded the MXF file from URC Control Room (which I would assume is the one tech support emailed you)

I opened Universal Browser and dragged command for ID 1 to the lights page.

The only time I get the alternating 1-7 lights is when I try to use a "scene" button to teach the dimmer the new ID. You are supposed to use ON to teach the dimmer but the ON isn't a repeating command from the MXF file so I pressed it repeatedly until it took. Now everything works quite reliably even though this is not a narrowband remote, I am quite pleased with the results.
